Things to do in Amboise Castle
Birthplace of the French Renaissance, Amboise Castle was built in the 15th and16th centuries for the kings Charles VIII, Louis XII and François I. The castle overlooks majestically over the Loire River and the roofs of the houses in the old town of Amboise. It houses a prestigious collection of Gothic and Renaissance furniture and represents also the expression of French-style luxury. From its balconies, its roofs and its terraced gardens, visitors can admire a beautiful view on the Loire landscape.
Nearby, you can find the Clos-Lucé castle, the last home of Leonardo da Vinci, which exhibits models of the famous artist-inventor's creations. The tomb of the great Italian Renaissance painter is located in the Chapel of Saint-Hubert in the gardens of the Château d’Amboise.
