Located in Holland's most famous seaside resort of Scheveningen, the Museum Beelden aan Zee is hidden in the dunes providing for a tranquil experience to view the only Dutch museum collection with a focus exclusively on contemporary international sculpture.
Museum Beelden aan Zee was founded by Theo and Lida Scholten in 1994 following the purchase of the first small sculpture. Their collected works center around the theme of mankind with prime examples including The five bronze portraits of the current Royal Family. Today, the collection includes portraits to abstract forms to monumental figures. Take a stroll through the space to see more than 5,000 sculptures, roughly 1,000 plaster models and 500 medallions.
