What to expect

The "Masingini Nature Forest Reserve And City Park" with its 566 ha is located in the western district of Zanzibar about 8 km from Zanzibar Town. The forest was estabilished in 1950s for the purpose of conservation of water source and soil and is until today an essential water supply for Zanzibar Town.

The Zanzibar City Park officially opended in 2017 and invites its visitors to discover more than 179 plant species as well as a variety of animals such as Zanzibar red colobus monkey, Velvet monkey, Syles monkey, Blue duiker etc. You can choose between short or long hiking trails which can take you up to 3 hours into the forest reserve. With your visit you will contribute to the development of the park and local communities.
